This weekend marks the 4th year Whim has been in business!! What started as a college business plan as bloomed into a successful business! Through the years we have changed and evolved as trends come & go and new brands hit the fashion scene.

2010 brought us a new location, new employees, new brands & new fabulous employees. We could not be happier!

Whim would like to thank our loyal customers for all of our success. Without our customers we would be back to square one.

Hudson Introduces Their "Baby Boot" Jean

For those who crave a whole lot of skinny with a little bit of boot, Hudson introduces their Baby Boot style. While the low rise fit hugs the bum and thighs and subtly flares into a slight bootcut that will give you a long, lean silhouette. These jeans have a 16 inch leg opening so the look great tucked into boots or with a heel.

And Hudson isn't the only brand doing this new style. Come & check out Level99 & William Rast.

We think this is a great alternative to the "straight leg".

A Twist on Friendship Bracelets

Based in Venice California, 291 has always had a bohemian, gypsy & nomadic vibe. But, this season they have taken a new approach and look while keeping with the soft cottons & cashmere we have grown to love. The collection this Fall is more edgy- with a focus on black & white with splashes of vibrant colors here & there. Their latest photo shoot steps away from the desert & the beaches of California for a city-scape in old factories, streets & rooftops of LA.

Growing up this was my favorite time of year. My mom would take us to get our school supplies, notebooks, pens, a new backpack. But the best part, was the shopping for new clothes. I lived for it! Even if it was 90 degrees the first week back I insisted on wearing my new sweaters & cords. So, now that I have a store, I strive to re-create that same feeling. It's reunion weekend 2010 at UVM this weekend! And it is my 10 year! It's insane how the 10 years have flown by. As I walk down memory lane I think back to the Small Business Course I took for my minor. In it we had to write a business plan for our final project. I wrote a plan for a boutique that sold designer denim. At that point it was all just a dream but here I am 10 years later living the it (most days). So, this is a note to all of Whim's beautiful, ambitious, smart & talented young clients- keep plugging away and follow your dreams because anything's possible. We Moved!!

Whim has found a new home. Our new location is located at 62 Church St in what used to be occupied by Maplehurst Flower Shop.

Because it was a flower shop, the new space has many windows to show off the product. It is also in the perfect location; across from the Town Center Mall & many complimentary businesses. When you come out of the parking garage you really can't miss the store.

We are so excited for this new chapter, you couldn't ask for a better location in Burlington. With our new customer base we are already thinking of many new things and brands to bring into the shop.

For the past year at Whim we have carried the 291 Venice collection- this is by far our favorite collection of tees & sweats inspired by the 1970s beach culture of Venice California. The graphics draw inspiration from the modern day bohemian nomad, creating a look that is both sexy and carefree, with an edge of sophistication.

Tomorrow we will do our first website photo shoot for 291 Venice & we can't wait to get it up there for our local clientele as well as our following of shoppers around the globe.

UVM Seniors Say Farewell To Church St This Friday

It's that time of year again! UVM Graduation. As a UVM Alumni it is a time to reminisce. It feels like yesterday that I donned the cap and gown. The following day I moved to New York City with big dreams. Now I am back with a store for which I wrote a business plan as a senior in a small business course.

So, to honor the latest batch of soon to be alumni, Whim is offering 20% off to all seniors this Friday, May 15th. On Friday we will say good-bye to many great customers that have become friends.

We have been a fan of William Rast here in Vermont since we opened the store in early 2007. So, we were so happy to finally see the brand recognized on Oprah today. After-all, everything Oprah touches turns to gold!

Coincidentally Jay & Melissa were in the City today and saw William Rast for Fall 09. Justin did not disappoint. It was amazing! Not only is the denim great but the collection pieces are a fabulous addition.

OK. I admit. I went a little crazy with Maxi Dresses this Spring & Summer. This Friday we are getting the first of many from Gypsy 05. These dresses are comfy and amazingly easy.
